Duke is number 1 and rightfully so. I was surprised to see a top 25 poll without Florida in it. In fact, I searched all over espn.com and found only 1 expert who put Florida in the top 25. They did lose their top 3 starters, but they had nice depth last year. Chris Richards and Adrian Moss can fill the inside nicely. Brewer is a defensive specialist and Humphrey can shoot the 3 ball. The Gators went 24-8 last year, and I see them improving. They lost 2 streaky hot dogs to the NBA Draft (by the way, Walsh and Roberson went undrafted).

In college football news, Marcus Vick and Virginia Tech romped Boston College last night 30-10. This huge victory however, will not be enough to move them into the top 2. Texas or USC has to lose or else Virginia Tech will be the odd man out. According to ESPN, “Tech now needs a take-notice victory Nov. 5 here against Miami, and then a similar flexing of the muscles in the ACC title game -- preferably against Florida State for power-rating reasons. Right now, Texas' 35-point victory over No. 10 Texas Tech stands out more than Tech's 20-point victory over No. 13 BC. You can debate whether the Red Raiders deserved their ranking -- but you can also debate whether the Eagles deserved theirs. Tech needed a clean kill and didn't get it.”

On a side note, I read in an article that Marcus Vick is 8-0 as a college starter, and combined with Michael Vicks record as a college starter, the brothers have a total record of 28-1. That is insane. Marcus still has one more year left in college (I think). But one can imagine if he will be his draft class’s top pick just like his brother. In comparison, the Manning brothers had a combine college record of 63-19.

So did anyone else like the new uniforms Tech was sporting last night? I thought Nike did a nice job in creating a new and fresh uniform look. Each sleeve had a different color. The Gators will be wearing the new uniforms Saturday afternoon against the Bulldogs. One sleeve will be orange and the other will be blue. I am usually a fan of the classic uniforms. Give me the blue pants and white jerseys they wore in that national championship game. But, I am kind of excited about seeing the new uniforms.

I guess I better give out my prediction. Florida 24, Bulldogs 20.
